If life were one big Halloween costume party, the Alexander
McQueen Spring/Summer 2013 Runway Show Collection would fit right in. The
runway show collection focuses on feminine erotica influences from pinup girls,
such as Vargas girls, to stripper cages and fishnets. Longtime Alexander
McQueen fan, Kristen Stewart who loves his dark sense of style, probably will
not make a red carpet appearance in anything from this particular collection,
unless she is looking to cause a huge row in the peanut gallery. Lady Gaga on the other hand would be beyond
thrilled for an invitation to stir up a little trouble. The collection
surprisingly (just kidding) is also inspired by wasps. It just would not be an
Alexander McQueen collection without the presence of insects or skulls.
The collection exaggerates the female hip silhouette in
tribute to the wasp. Rich with honeycomb pencil skirts and cropped panel
trousers, the collection is more than attention getting with original, matching
accessories. The cuff bracelets and ornamental chokers of the collection
accentuate the honeycomb-designed mid-shoe heels and stunning hats. The
ingredients of the Alexander McQueen 2013 Spring/Summer Collection include
unique jacquards, lacquered lace, laser cut patent leather, and silk organza.
Sarah Burton states, “It’s about
sensuality and skin but not nudity. We also wanted to express lightness, for
the clothes almost to hover over the women who wear them.” The Alexander
McQueen 2013 Spring/Summer Runway Show Collection is one that is sure to have
people buzzing just as loud as the runway show.
