“Our design approach has always been about
deconstructing and reconstructing garments,” stated Lubov Azria in a
backstage interview during New York Fashion Week. Azria explained the
methodology behind the clothing line as the company approaches its 25th
anniversary. The concept for the BCBG 2014 RTW Spring Collection was to pay
tribute to the fashion and style of the past 25 years of designs Taking
inspiration from a man’s dress shirt, elements of the shirt, reconstructed into
women’s clothing, are brilliant in design. Unique touches such as a “cuff belt”
shows the extraordinary thought that went behind creating the collection. The
peplums were indeed the delight of the show with shirttails used as an edge .
The
layered design of men’s dress shirts and turned dress with floral highlights at
the bottom was genius. The use of sheer not only made the look feminine, but
also edgy and sexy. The deep V-neck cuts add an extra pinch of womanhood to
this delicious recipe for haute fashion. The redefinition of the high-low
skirts with angled splendor is definitely a look that fashion lovers everywhere
will want in their closets. As the collection moved into eveningwear, the
beautiful, flowing gowns were refreshing and delightful. The pants suits gave
off tuxedo flair as they interchanged with gowns bursting with life and color.
The BCBG Max Azria 2014 RTW Spring Collection kicked off New York Fashion Week
with easy, breezy, and exquisite spring fashion that every woman will want to
wear.
