You don’t have to be an all-the-way minimalist. You could maintain that crisp clean minimalist style in the living room. But then, why not surprise yourself by a burst of colors when you enter.
Bohemian style is all about contrasting colors. Curtains are one of the staple accessories of a bohemian style bedroom. Hang colorful curtains of different fabrics, texture and designs on your bedroom walls

glam shots of Beverly wearing the brand’s products.
There are so many hairstyles you can pull off with natural
hair. We have even highlighted some of them in previous editions and I must say
this is definitely one for the bookmarks. This hairstyle is your basic top
knot, but what is so special about it’s the details on the top knot. It has
some twists, needs minimal material and will literally take about 10-15
minutes.
Here is what you will need:
-A Hair Brush
-Bobby Pins
-A Wide Toothed Comb
-A Tail Comb
-Mousse
-Leave-in Conditioner
-An Elastic Hair Rope
(you can use a shoe lace as an alternative)
How To
Step 1
Brush your hair
upwards with the hair brush and pull slightly upwards while brushing. You could
add in some leave-in conditioner now to untangle the hair.
Step 2
Place the hair rope
or shoe lace at the nape of your hair and wrap it to the front of your head.
After you have done this, slightly push the rope upward while pulling the
string tighter to keep the hair in place. When you have gotten to about 2
inches away from your forehead, stop pushing the string and tie it securely.
Step 3
Section the hair in
the middle of your head out. Add a little leave-in conditioner to the section
and make a loose twist. Do the same to the remaining part of the hair but this
time securing the ends with a bobby pin and pinning it to the original section
in the middle of your head.
Step 4
After the twists are
done all over, take off the hair string and brush the hair again. Then apply
some mousse to the edges and brush again. Then reapply the hair string as
stated in Step 2.
And that is it. A simple top knot. Be sure to share this
with your friends so you don’t look fabulous alone and let us know what you
think of the tutorial. Have a fab week.
Nigerian designer, Duro Olowu, had prints “popping” in a
myriad of dazzling colors at London Fashion Week. The bold designs of the Duro
Olowu Spring 2014 RTW Collection are ones that even a blind man would notice.
If you are wondering what it is like to be a ray of sunshine, wearing this
collection will definitely help you feel the radiance. One may want to carry
extra sets of sunglasses to protect onlookers from the bright reflections
erupting from their outfit. According to Olowu, he wanted to create the
“perfect cami”- “not too bare, or too short, or too long, that could be worn
layered or on its own, and that had a bias-cut fit that just brushed the body”.
The collection, packed with the dramatic, threw punches filled with flair. From fabulous
patchwork, powerful capes, and beautiful floral print dresses, the collection
can be described as nothing more than one-of-a-kind. Like an irresistible, but
strange beat, one cannot help but tap your foot to the unique rhythm of the
collection. Olowu may have proven once and for all that the seventies style is
just as cool as the fifties flair and the roaring twenties vintage royalty.
Delightful stripes are a staple of the collection with nominal regard for
continuation of one particular design throughout a garment, but instead as many
as humanly possible. The Duro Olowu Spring 2014 RTW Collection mismatch prints
triumphed with glory and lovely imagination.
A
characteristic two-level layout and bold, bright color splashes make children’s
rooms by Nidi Design popular with both kids and parents all over the world —
and in this room, called “b,” it’s easy to see why. It has everything a kid
needs: a bed, a desk, a comfy sitting space on the floor, and — of course — a
ladder to a second level from which you can look down at the rest. Take a look
through a large open “doorway” from outside and you’ll see the white
four-poster; rest assured this doesn’t look like Grandma’s four-poster bed!
Against the palette of pure white, its soft touches are purple and gray pillows
— one heart-shaped — and a pale blue coverlet. For those
stay-up-past-your-bedtime book evenings, it’s got a white cube bedside table
with handy reading lamp.
And, as with all Nidi rooms, this one gives you plenty of
storage, not only in drawers on the bedside table, but also in handy
rectangular cubbies on the wall — a set of these cubbies, four across and down
on another wall, is a mix of open and door-covered storage, while the support
for the second level is a built-in storage unit of both tall cabinets and
cubbies at one end (some with their own doors). This girl loves red, too: look
at the neat stacked “suitcase” style boxes on the closet shelf, above a rack of
bright clothing. Having friends over? You can lounge on pillows on the floor,
or perch on kid-sized ottomans of blue and purple. It’s a fun room, one with lots
of possibilities for work and play: “b” by Nidi Design.
I both love and hate the wonderfully fickle world of fashion
and beauty. Most trends have me rolling my eyes and wondering who the heck buys
into this stuff!!! Once in a while a trend grabs my attention and has me daydreaming
about ways to integrate it into my wardrobe or makeup collection. Either way, I
think it's fun and interesting to keep an eye on what new fashion and beauty
trends pop up. But it's very important to not fall victim to unflattering and
just plain silly trends.
Here is my list of fashion and beauty trends that you should
have ditched yesterday...
Why? Please someone explain this to me?
Ditch: Harem Pants
I am particularly horrified by Harem pants, aka Hammer pants,
aka droopy drawers. Believe me, I am all about having a personal style, and I
wear some pretty eccentric clothes. But let's look at this objectively, Harem
pants just aren't flattering on anyone. I really wish my legs looked like 6
inch pegs and I look like I have on a diaper said no one ever in history!!
Trade
em' in for: Chic track pants
Tailored,
yet still comfy chic track pants are a much more flattering option. You can
wear them during the day with flats or sneakers and glam them up for evening
with sexy heels. How to pull off the look...
-Keep
the fit close to your body, but not overly tight.
-Look
for styles with interesting details and fabrics. I especially love printed and
beaded versions.
-Pay
attention to your body. Be mindful of "muffin-top" and pockets that
puff out on the hips.
-Pair
them with an elegant top that shows a little skin.
Ditch: Clunky platform booties
These ugly booties definitely had a fashion moment. There was
a few months where I couldn't find a website, blog or magazine that wasn't
featuring some "It Girl" wearing her Jeffrey Campbell Lita's. I was
never on the bandwagon. They seemed like a rip-off of every pair of shoes David
Bowie wore in the 70's. And to be perfectly frank, they are just plain ugly.
They make your feet look like big, clunky hooves and unless you have the
gazelle-like calves of a supermodel, I am certain your legs look like tree
stumps. Sorry 'bout it.
Trade em' in for: Kitten Heels with personality
Your lower back and ankles can breathe a sigh of relief. After
endless seasons of 5-inch mega platforms, dainty kitten heels seem so fresh and
modern. But let's be clear, these aren't your Granny's heels. The modern
kittens have cool details like studs, laser cut-outs and layered straps. Just
because your lower the heels doesn't mean you sacrifice sex appeal. A woman who
can walk confidently, dance all night and not complain about her aching
feet....that's pretty darn sexy.
Ditch: Over-the-top eyelashes
Thanks to Kim K's crazy Snuffaluffagus lashes this trend has
lasted way longer than your poor eyelashes ever hoped it would. I am all for a
falsie for special events, but it’s the brow-grazing lashes at yoga class that
concern me. I'm a Makeup Artist and let me tell you, the damage you cause your
lashes from excessive use of lash products is alarming. All those pony-like
lashes you grew with your prescription lash serum will fall out once you quit
using it. It will take months for your lashes to look as good as they did
before you ever used it. You love your long-wear lash extensions? If you do
them too often you are inevitably left with bald spots where your real lashes
have broken off. I guess the only thing you can do is apply more extensions to
the bald areas...and the cycle continues. The biggest reason to ditch the crazy
lash trend is because your natural lashes, enhanced with a nice mascara, are
beautiful and good enough on their own!
Trade em' in for: Edgy Eyeliner
I
love this trend because it is extremely versatile. To me, edgy eyeliner is an
exaggerated design that might reach up to my eyebrows and out towards my
temples. Edgy eyeliner to you might mean using gunmetal grey instead of soft
brown. Whatever it is that is outside your eyelining comfort zone, I challenge
you to try it out this season. New colors, shapes, patterns and textures have
been popping up on runways and on the streets. So give it a whirl! Here are a
few products to make your transition to the "edgy" side a little
easier:
-Q-Tips
and a little non-oily makeup remover (or lotion) will be your best friend if
you make any mistakes.
-Always
prime your eyes first. It will help your eyeliner stay intact and keep it from
smearing onto your eyelid. I have been obsessed with NARS Smudge Proof
Eyeshadow Base for years now. It never fails me.
-Start
small and build up your eyeliner. It's a lot easier to add more than to take it
off and start over.
-Be
patient!
Just
like anything else, being a pro at eyeliner takes dedication and practice.

As always, Sarah Burton continues the legacy of her mentor,
Alexander McQueen, in the McQ 2014 Spring RTW Collection, which debuted at
London Fashion Week. The collection is alive with vibrant, colorful, lizard
prints that dazzled in a way that only Alexander McQueen could create. The
collection focuses on reptiles, lace, and digital prints of bunnies, no joke
intended. In yet another eclectic triumph, Sarah Burton does her mentor proud
in what has to be one of her most interesting creations yet. Not quite
snakeskin, the collection is a kaleidoscopic collision of color; the reptilian
nature of the collection is creative and eye-catching.
Even with all the bright colors, the collection still
managed to come off with the classic McQueen signatures: dark, edgy, and
gothic. If you are a fan of the Raving Rabbids you will take great appreciation
of the digital evil bunny print thrown into the dark genius of the collection,
which collection boasts short skirts with tailored Capri pants, while showing a
bit of a tuxedo influence. I could not help but take note of the toned-down
accessories of this collection. The usual spectacle we have become accustomed
to when it comes to the accessories of the collection came in a few choice
chokers. The collection melds the worlds of punk rock, Goth, and bikers into an
interesting twist that can only be called the McQ Spring 2014 RTW Collection.
