Clara Chime, First Lady Of Enugu State, Begs Human Rights Groups To Release Her From House Arrest Imposed By Governor Sullivan Chime

Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State, says Governor Sullivan Chime, has placed her under house arrest, and has cried out for assistance to reach human rights bodies to rescue her.

In a letter dripping with pain and suffering, Mrs. Chime disclosed that she married Mr. Chime in October 2008 but that she has been unable to share the matrimonial bed with him for over four years.
Describing her desperate situation, she said that even President Goodluck Jonathan and First Lady Patience Jonathan have intervened with her husband without success.

"My father is late, my Mum and few of my siblings are confused and have done all kinds of prayers they know of, 3 of my siblings prefers me dead than to see me leave the Government house.  He treats my Mum and my siblings bad," she wrote.
The Enugu State First Lady said she has been introduced to two psychiatrists whose names she gave as Dr. Onwukwe and Dr. Agumo, who have prescribed "all kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute depressed and also drives me into hallucinations."

The doctors, she noted, are scared of her husband the Governor, to whom nobody can tell the truth.
According to the letter, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu state (Callistus Onaga), and top priests have come to intervene, as have the President and the First Lady of the nation, without success.
Mrs. Chime further complains that Governor Chime has ordered her to leave with her four-year old son whom she conceived before their wedding.  However, the governor, according to her, later threatened to disown the boy should she leave with him.

"He has told everyone he can reach that there is no marriage between us that I can leave if I wish to but whenever I plan to leave he instructs them to lock me in.  I have told him through Sms that I will leave my son behind and leave alone but still he instructed his securities to lock me inside the house."

Mrs. Chime further complains she has lost touch with the real world and all that makes her beautiful because of the side effects of the drugs she is taking, stressing that she is under house arrest for committing no crime.

Of the situation in Government House, she said,
"He does not take care of me personally, the government gives me allowance to run the house and that's where I save little from to take care of my elf, my Mum and few of my siblings," she said in the letter.  He shut me out of his life years ago; I don't have access to his apartment. The problem is enormous; I don't know where to start to explain from."

She said that even the security detail in the lodge has resorted to praying for her, while the few that can be bought with money are taking advantage of the situation.
"Police and SS men have been instructed by Mr Sullivan Chime to confine me in a place for a long time now against my wish [but] it is my wish to leave these premises," she said, begging,

"Please assist me to reach to the human rights and say to them to please come hastily and release me."

US Senator Apologizes For Controversial Comments On Nigerians

\

A United States Senator, Ted Cruz, has apologized over his disparaging comments on Monday, October 21 in which he referred to Nigerians as scammers.

He also called for a peace meeting with Nigerian-Americans who have demanded that he retracts the derogatory remarks.

According to local American media, Cruz, while taking a political swipe at the computer problems of the Affordable Care Act in the U.S, made the comments.

"You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately.

"They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website," Cruz was quoted as saying on Monday in Houston.

Nigerians home and abroad have strongly condemned the statement, while the Federal Government through the Nigerian Ambassador to the U.S., Prof Ade Adefuye, demanded an apology from Mr. Cruz.

But a letter on Sunday from the senator to leaders of the Nigerian community in Houston, Texas, where the comments were made, said Cruz "regrets any misunderstanding."

The letter was signed by one of the aides of the Senator, Mr. David Sawyer, the South-East Texas Regional Director in his office.

The letter of apology reads in parts: "Earlier this week, Sen. Ted Cruz made a joke in which he used the term 'Nigerian email scam."

"Senator Cruz regrets that it is unfortunate that we're living in a time where just about every joke can be misconstrued to cause offence to someone."

"Cruz has never, nor would ever use a blanket term in a derogatory fashion against such a vibrant and integral part of our community. This usage was never directed to the Nigerian community as a whole.

"To the good people of Nigeria – a beautiful nation where my wife lived briefly as the child of missionaries – no offense was intended.

"I am fully appreciative of the range of mutual economic and security interests that make Nigeria an important friend to the United States," Cruz said apologetically.

Agagu’s Burial May Still Hold Tomorrow Despite Unfortunate Plane Crash

Indications have emerged that despite the incident of plane crash involving the corpse of the late Agagu and some of his family member in Lagos today, the family of the deceased and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are insisting of going on with the burial ceremony tomorrow at Iju Odo in Okitipupa local government.
DailyPost gathered that the family had already sent a team to Lagos to convey the corpse which was said to be intact despite the crash which claimed over 11 souls including a Commissioner in Ondo State, Mr. Deji Falae. The family said since Agagu's son, Feyi and daughters in-law survived the crash, nothing would stop the burial.
A source had disclosed that Feyi, had spoke with his mother and other family members, an indication that he was in good condition.
However, A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Chief Olusola Oke, who was in distress said, "the disasters are tasking our souls and breaking our hearts. Oke, who was flanked by other PDP Chieftains, said "at a time we were thinking of giving triumphant entry for a peaceful commitment to mother earth, of our great leader, this disaster struck to shake his biological, political and social families to their very existence.

"While we commiserate with the families of those who lost their lives, we thank God for saving the life of the late Agagu only son, [Feyi] for the sake of sustaining the former governor's dynasty.
"We were also full of praises that the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo son, Gbenga who was on board of the plane has also been reported to have survived the ordeal.
Oke called for full investigations of the disaster, which he attributed to carelessness or sabotage.
He also thanked God that Agagu's remains were intact saying "our leader will still be given the deserved burial, part of which had already started".
According to the PDP leader, all praise should also go to those who rescued the survivors of the plane crash, stressing that the burial would resume with minimal delay after due consultation with Agagu's family and the state government.
The State PDP Chairman, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi said the late Agagu does not deserve what is happening to him, saying "we are still very shock, but we are consoled that his heir-apparent did not die, that is the only joy we have.
Also, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of PDP, Hon. Saka Lawal called for prayers in the state, adding that the people need to move closer to God for deliverance.
"Ondo State needs prayer. What has happened is just for us to move closer to God. I will like to say, this has never occurred in the history of Ondo State. I will like to sympathize with the people of the state. It is unfortunate that our dear state is going through this kind of disaster. Again, we need prayer; everybody must come together for divine intervention from the hands of the evil forces". Lawal said.
When Daily Post visited the residence of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF], Chief Olu Falae who is the father of the Commissioner, sympathizers were in prayer session for the survival of Deji, the Commissioner.
We also observed that Falae, who was surrounded by two friends kept mum, and only responded in Yoruba Language by saying "E se oo, E se oo" meaning "thank you, thank you” repeatedly.

On behalf of himself, his family and the Federal Government, President Jonathan extends condolences to all families who lost members in the plane crash, and the government and people of Ondo State who have been plunged into sorrow yet again while preparing to lay their former governor to rest.
The President feels and shares the grief and pain of the Agagu family as they grapple with the further loss of beloved relatives and associates so soon after losing their husband, father and mentor.
He prays that God Almighty will comfort the  Agagu family, as well as their relatives and friends, and grant them the divine grace they will undoubtedly require to overcome the trauma of this most trying time.
President Jonathan views the plane crash as most unfortunate and regrettable, given the concerted efforts of the Federal Government to enhance aviation safety in the country.
