Court frees Osun Monarch of raping NYSC member,says they had a regular sexual relationship

Justice Oyejide Falola of the Osun State High Court sitting in Ikirun on Tuesday gave the verdict today, putting an end to a three-year sexual case that has brought national attention on the traditional king, the Alowa of Ilowa-Ijesa, Oba Adebukola Alli, and his accuser, Helen Okpara.

Delivering judgment, Falola said that the plaintiff, Miss Helen Okpara, failed to tender enough exhibits to convince the court beyond reasonable doubt that she was raped by the monarch.

 The judge also held that the plaintiff, who accused the #monarch of raping her at his private residence in Osogbo, failed to prove that she was raped.

 He said a case of #rape could only be established with exhibits such as bed sheet, the victim’s pant and a medical report indicating forceful penetration, adding that the prosecutor failed to tender all these.Falola said Okpara also failed to show the bruises on her private part as evidence that she was raped.

 He further said the prosecutor failed to show to the court the plaintiff’s torn clothes as she had claimed in her submissions before the court.

 While stressing that a case of rape must be proved with injuries sustained on the private part as well as other parts of the body, Falola said the court was not convinced that Okpara sustained any injury.

 Falola said the court was able to establish the fact that Okpara and the monarch had been having regular sexual #relationship before a misunderstanding ensued between them.

 He, however, condemned such relationship involving a traditional ruler, saying his action had brought his stool into disrepute as well as disgrace to his family and community.

Agagu’s Burial May Still Hold Tomorrow Despite Unfortunate Plane Crash

Indications have emerged that despite the incident of plane crash involving the corpse of the late Agagu and some of his family member in Lagos today, the family of the deceased and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are insisting of going on with the burial ceremony tomorrow at Iju Odo in Okitipupa local government.

DailyPost gathered that the family had already sent a team to Lagos to convey the corpse which was said to be intact despite the crash which claimed over 11 souls including a Commissioner in Ondo State, Mr. Deji Falae. The family said since Agagu's son, Feyi and daughters in-law survived the crash, nothing would stop the burial.
A source had disclosed that Feyi, had spoke with his mother and other family members, an indication that he was in good condition.
However, A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Chief Olusola Oke, who was in distress said, "the disasters are tasking our souls and breaking our hearts. Oke, who was flanked by other PDP Chieftains, said "at a time we were thinking of giving triumphant entry for a peaceful commitment to mother earth, of our great leader, this disaster struck to shake his biological, political and social families to their very existence.

"While we commiserate with the families of those who lost their lives, we thank God for saving the life of the late Agagu only son, [Feyi] for the sake of sustaining the former governor's dynasty.

"We were also full of praises that the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo son, Gbenga who was on board of the plane has also been reported to have survived the ordeal.
Oke called for full investigations of the disaster, which he attributed to carelessness or sabotage.
He also thanked God that Agagu's remains were intact saying "our leader will still be given the deserved burial, part of which had already started".
According to the PDP leader, all praise should also go to those who rescued the survivors of the plane crash, stressing that the burial would resume with minimal delay after due consultation with Agagu's family and the state government.
The State PDP Chairman, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi said the late Agagu does not deserve what is happening to him, saying "we are still very shock, but we are consoled that his heir-apparent did not die, that is the only joy we have.
Also, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of PDP, Hon. Saka Lawal called for prayers in the state, adding that the people need to move closer to God for deliverance.
"Ondo State needs prayer. What has happened is just for us to move closer to God. I will like to say, this has never occurred in the history of Ondo State. I will like to sympathize with the people of the state. It is unfortunate that our dear state is going through this kind of disaster. Again, we need prayer; everybody must come together for divine intervention from the hands of the evil forces". Lawal said.
When Daily Post visited the residence of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF], Chief Olu Falae who is the father of the Commissioner, sympathizers were in prayer session for the survival of Deji, the Commissioner.
We also observed that Falae, who was surrounded by two friends kept mum, and only responded in Yoruba Language by saying "E se oo, E se oo" meaning "thank you, thank you” repeatedly.

Apple Knocks Off Coca-Cola To Become World's Most Valuable Brand

APPLE is the new most valuable brand in the world, according to a closely followed annual report.

The report,  is from Interbrand, a corporate identity and brand consulting company owned by the Omnicom Group that has been compiling what it calls the Best Global Brands report since 2000. The previous No. 1 brand, Coca-Cola, fell to No. 3.

Not only has Apple replaced Coca-Cola as first among the 100 most valuable brands based on criteria that include financial performance, this is the first time that the soft drink known for slogans like "It's the real thing" has not been No. 1.

The 2013 report begins: "Every so often, a company changes our lives, not just with its products, but with its ethos. This is why, following Coca-Cola's 13-year run at the top of Best Global Brands, Interbrand has a new No. 1 — Apple."

The report estimates the value of the Apple brand at $98.3 billion, up 28 percent from the 2012 report. The value of the Coca-Cola brand also rose, by 2 percent to $79.2 billion, but that was not sufficient to give Coca-Cola a 14th year as Interbrand's most valuable brand.

The top 10 Best Global Brands for 2013, five are in technology: Apple; Google; Microsoft, No. 5, unchanged from last year; Samsung, 8, compared with 9 last year; and Intel, 9, compared with 8 last year.

 Among other transformative technology brands that performed well in the new report was Facebook, which climbed to 52 from 69 last year, its first year on the list.

However, not all technology brands fared well. BlackBerry, which tumbled last year to 93 from 56 in 2011, has disappeared from the list. And Nokia, which dropped to 19 from 14 in 2011, finished this year in 57th place — "the biggest faller" among the 100.
Among nontechnology brands, a notable addition to the list was Chevrolet, at 89, the first General Motors brand to rank among the Best Global Brands.
Last year, when Coca-Cola finished atop the Best Global Brands list for the 13th consecutive time, an executive at the Coca-Cola Company acknowledged the streak but noted that "nothing lasts forever."
If it is consolation, Coca-Cola remains far ahead of Apple and Google in likes on Facebook fan pages. Coca-Cola has 73.2 million, compared with 9.8 million for Apple and 15.1 million for Google.

U.S Begins Government Shutdown Because Budget Deadline Has passed

The US government began a partial shutdown on Tuesday for the first time in 17 years, putting up potentially 1 million workers on unpaid leave, closing national parks and stalling medical research projects. Federal agencies were directed to cut back services after lawmakers could not break a political stalemate especially on Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act in the budget legislation they sent up to Senate.

After House Republicans floated a late offer to break the logjam, Senate Majority Leader  Harry Reid rejected the idea, saying Democrats would not enter into formal negotiations on spending "with a gun to our head" in the form of government shutdowns.
In the hours leading up to the deadline, the Democratic-controlled Senate repeatedly stripped measures passed by the House that tied temporary funding  for government operations to delaying or scaling back the Affordable Care Act healthcare overhaul known as Obamacare.
Shortly after midnight, President Barack Obama tweeted: "The Affordable Care Act is moving forward. You can't shut it down."
Obama in a letter blamed the House of Representatives for the stalemate and said he would keep working to get Congress to reopen the government and restart vital services.
This shutdown was completely preventable. It should not have happened. "And the House of Representatives can end it as soon as it follows the Senate's lead, and funds your work in the United States Government without trying to attach highly controversial and partisan measures in the process.
The Senate on Tuesday morning voted 54-46 to reject the request for formal negotiations to end the impasse.
The last shutdown was in 1995 and 1996 and cost taxpayers $1.4 billion, according to congressional researchers

"His members had since called on the pastor to come clean on the adultery allegations, but he prefers to remain silent until God says otherwise.

A member was quoted as saying, "God can't ask you to keep quiet in this matter because his name is at stake too. The church of God is being accused here and the same God is telling him to keep quiet? That is immaterial, I can't accept that. "Findings further revealed that the preacher is currently working behind the scene to 'bury' the allegation. The preacher has vowed to put an end to the ugly development that has soiled his hard-earned name and reputation.

I WAS KIDNAPPED BY A GANG OF WOMEN AND FORCED TO HAVE SEX FOR FOUR DAYS -SOLDIER

A soldier was kidnapped and repeatedly forced to have sex by a gang of women for four days before being dumped on a remote mountain range and stoned, police said.

Cops in Zimbabwe say the 25-year-old was willingly picked up April 19 by two women and a man in a Mercedes Benz who offered him a ride to the city of Mutare.

But, after driving in the right direction for an hour, the driver suddenly changes directions — threatening his victim with a knife to keep quiet.

“One of the female passengers then blindfolded the complainant with a black cloth,” said Manicaland Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean.

The gang, which has not been caught, took the man to a house where they stole $35 in cash and his cellphone before stripping him “nekkid,” reports NewsDay.

Over the following four days, he was ordered to “be intimate” with one of the women “several times.”

On April 23, the gang again blindfolded the man, taking him to the Dangamvura Mountains, where they lobbed rocks at his feet and drove off leaving him for dead.

The soldier managed to make his way to Sakubva Police Station to report his ordeal.

This guy is lucky to be alive. Ironically, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of such a thing happening in Zimbabwe.
